05/02/2010
Publisher Bethesda Softworks has revealed that a new addition to the Fallout series is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year.
The software house has confirmed an autumn launch window for Fallout: New Vegas, a follow-up to Fallout 3 which is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment.
Fallout 3, which was developed in-house by Bethesda, was released in 2008 as the first entry in the main series since Fallout 2 was released in 1998.
It was met with considerable critical acclaim on release, earning perfect review scores from publications such as Eurogamer, Official Xbox Magazine and GamePro.
The title subsequently won the game of the year award at the Game Developers Choice Awards, with similar acclaim bestowed upon it by websites such as IGN.
Bethesda said of the follow-up: "Fallout: New Vegas takes all the action, humour and post-apocalyptic grime and grit of this legendary series, and raises the stakes."
