Codemasters announces new Bodycount shooter
09/03/2010
Developer Codemasters is to launch a new shooter franchise titled Bodycount in the first quarter of 2011.
The new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title is being built around the EGO Game Technology Platform and is set to feature advanced physics and destructible environments.
Its creative director is Stuart Black, known as the co-creator and designed of the 2006 shooter Black, and will also feature refined AI and extensive online multiplayer and cooperative modes.
Executive producer Tom Gillo stated that the studio is aiming for the new IP to be a "best-in-class" experience in the shooter genre.
He added: "From the jaw-dropping devastation caused by firing into enemies or shredding the world around you in a hail of bullets, Bodycount will crystallise that moment of pulling the trigger into an exhilarating sensory overload of action."
The developer's most recent foray into the shooter genre was Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, which was released towards the end of 2009.
