Well hello again my stalkers/viewers.
Yes it’s been a week since my last post, but I’m back in action to tell you the gossip of my placement and give you some insight to the game industry.
On Monday the 27th of July I had started on the production of my design overflow document. This involved me working with a premade pitch document and developing it so that every department in the studio will understand, and see my idea. I’ve been working on the design overflow for about 3 days now and I’ve learnt so much. The amount of detail that I’ve to go through is mind melting awesomeness, at the same time I’m starting to feel like a game designer which is win.
Also I experienced my first meeting with all the different departments, about the design flow document I made, it went well-ish. Just try and picture this if you can, your idea is a dead carcass and the programmers, artists and even the COO are all vultures; they are going to rip the crap out of that idea, until there is only bone and a poor soul screaming “No!” But all-n-all a great learning experience.
Another goal of mine was to come to the placement and make as many friends as possible; I can gladly already say that is a success. From my understanding in the course materials you need to be able to communicate as much as possible, so getting to know people in and out of work will help in my opinion, so commence the mingling.
